Cemetery-inspired names

Creepy? Maybe. Historically fun? Absolutely.

Here are names I saw in cemeteries this morning that I would love to read in a baby announcememt:)

Minnie
Mae/May
Philander (what a cool name)
James (not ancient but love it:)
George :)
Eliza
Charles
Jefferson
Helen
Bethana
Lucy
Betty
Oliver!
Victoria

( in geographical order of prospect hill cemetery, not preferential:)

  1. before Aidan was born, we were at a cemetary for my great grandmother - and I'm sure this is so inappropriate - by the end of our visit my entire family (aunts and uncles and cousins included) were walking around checking out potential baby names. and wouldn't you know Otto was there twice (the running joke is Mike loves Otto and I just can't get on board). I particular love Eliza and Mae, but I'm an old fashioned lover of girls names - if I had a girl should would likely be Abigail (Abby) or Eleanor (Elle).

  2. The photos did not upload well, but you may have appreciated the headstones "George Wood" (if I remember correctly Great-Grandpa was a George) and "William Wood" ;-)

ha, Otto:) There are worse names. I'm not a fan of Earnest. Eugene I'm marginal on, I knew one who was a nice boy but, eh? Rudolph? I knew a kid whose MIDDLE name was Rudolph and he got picked on for it! Honestly, I can't remember his first name now, how awful is that:) (Please don't take this personally, I'm certain I'd love a Jake, Aidan and Eugene Christmas card;D) Or Otto...if you ever warm up to it:D hehe
